2019 U12 and U10 Awards Recap + OMS Summer Camps Reminder + Jackets
Hello U12 and U10 Families,
I hope this email finds you well and enjoying the Spring! There is still one week of skiing left up here at Okemo (and one more past that at Stowe with your Epic Pass!) and the skiing is amazing with tons of snow still here.
I wanted to send a recap of our 2019 U12 and U10 Competition Center Awards recipients. Much progress was made by our athletes in terms of skill progression, and we also had great results. Everyone should be proud of themselves for the hard work they put in! Also a big thanks to all of you parents and families for supporting your athletes! Congrats to all of our athletes on an outstanding season, but particularly to these athletes who were recognized in the following categories:

U12 Sportsmanship: Dillon Poodiack
U12 Coaches' Award: Maisie Kostuchenko
U10 Athlete of the Year: Piper Keane
U10 Athlete of the Year: Ryan Visnic

OMS Summer Camps!
I also wanted to remind everyone of the exciting OMS Summer Camp Offerings for 2019! See the flier embedded below for basic date info and check out the following links for more information. Our camps are an awesome way to get on snow in the summer or have fun while getting in shape in Vermont!
Both camps are filling up fast, so act now to reserve your athlete's spot.
Mt.Hood On-Snow Camp - More info and a sign up form at the following link. There is a 10% discount on the Mount Hood Camp for anyone with a deposit in by April 15th!
Summer Sports Adventure Camps at OMS - More info and registration forms available at the link below. There is a 10% discount when you sign up for two or more full week sessions!
I want to encourage parents of U12s, particularly those who will be U14s next winter, to consider the on-snow camp in Mount Hood. Rising U14s are highly encouraged to attend and other U12s will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Time on snow in the summer is a valuable experience for young athletes. Not only does it boost their skill development, but it gives them an incredible experience that will strengthen their love of the sport and be with them all their lives. Summer is a great time for athletes to make breakthroughs - with the warmer temps, sunshine, and absence of the pressure of impending races, attitudes are light and fun and we often see athletes accomplish new skills based goals. Furthermore, while it may not seem like a lot of time at first, realize that the 10 +/- days on snow the athletes will get at our Mount Hood camp represents 25% of the time they will spend on snow all winter long - this is a huge chunk of time!!
We are hoping to re-order the same jackets we had last year for our Competition Center and OMS athletes, but are exploring a new process through which to do that. Please stay tuned for more info, but know that you haven't missed a deadline :)!
Best wishes for a fun Spring and Summer!
