OMST 1.5_1.6 and upcoming USASA Stratton BX

OMST parents and athletes,

Although the conditions were a bit challenging over the holiday break, it was great to see the enthusiasm and progression from all the athletes over the week. This will be our last weekend of training before event season kicks off and training will be as usual from 8am-1:30pm on both days.

For athletes competing in boardercross this year, We have our first USASA boardercross events the following weekend of 1/12-1/13 at Stratton. Please make sure to pre-register your child through the USASA website: USASA.ORG  You must register for each event (Saturday and Sunday) separately. If the course is open, Friday 1/11 training with OMS is an option for any weekend program athletes who would like to receive some coaching and training prior to the event. Training will be from 9am-1pm on the Stratton BX course. If any weekend athletes would like to receive extra training, please let me know and weekend athletes will need to meet OMS at the Stratton Base Lodge at 8:30am. I am waiting to hear if the course will open and also on training tickets are generally $35-$40 with a USASA membership. Friday training is $50 and payment should be made to the Okemo Competition Center.

Lastly, please make sure that you are diligent in having your child's board waxed and tuned periodically. Proper snowboard maintenance will keep the board sliding smoothly and ensure a better edge hold as well as protecting the longevity of the board. The Totem Pole is Ludlow offers excellent tuning services for race and pipe boards and the Darkside offers basic tuning services more appropriate for park boards.

If anyone has any questions on anything, please let me know.
