Okemo U16-19 Program (12/15-12/16)
We are approaching the midpoint of December this weekend. Christmas break is right around the corner, and at that point, we are fully immersed in the ski season. Mother nature has continued to cooperate so far and the conditions are still excellent. Let me pause to knock on wood and cross my fingers... hopefully this continues. Now this weekend compared to the bitter cold we had last weekend will be average temps for the season creeping above the freezing mark. And it looks like the originally scheduled precipitation will hold off until Monday. Great news for us as we continue to plug away at more SL training and racing.
Congrats to Okemo athletes who put two runs together in Sunday's race. There was plenty of first race jitters going around but overall the team did a great job. Way to go Jill, Brooke, and Sarah cracking the top 15 on the girls side with 2nd, 13th, and 14th respectively. And on the boys side with Matt C. 3rd place and first year U16 Ryan Thomson taking 7th. Henri L. also had a very solid day cracking the top 20 snagging 19th place. Nice work boys!
This weekend those of you that have had ample training time will be racing both days SL at Killington. All of you that are signed up for both days have got the OK from a coach and are good to go. Thank you for the communication. There's a handful of you that will only be attending the race Sunday. And there are some that will be exclusively training this weekend which is absolutely fine. Everyone starts off at a different pace and commitment level coming into the beginning of winter.
